Birth Story of my little Prince - Aadithya

Hi,
This is my first post in my blog. I am now the mom of a 3.5 year old boy. In this post i want to rewind about 3.5 years of my life. The day when my cute baby Aadithya was born. I wish to share my birth experience here.
Here goes the story.....
Since I had GD, I was admitted on Sunday(05.03.2006) to monitor my sugars and was informed that I will be induced pain on Monday.
On Monday morning I was given a gel. In few hours my pains started. It was not very severe still I felt it very uneasy. It came once in every 10 – 15 minutes and lasted for only 15 – 30 seconds. My doctor checked me once in 2 hours and told me that the pain has to increase well or she may have to give another dose of the gel in the afternoon. My pains increased by afternoon and so she said she will wait and see and so didn’t give me my second dose of gel. But the pain remained the same(though it was a little more than the morning pain). I was feeling very very uneasy. But could neither sleep nor walk comfortably. By night doctor gave me Pathetor injection and told me that the pain may either increase or will totally subside and I will be able to sleep. The pain subsided for me and I was able to take some rest in the night. The baby’s heart beat was checked every hour.
On Tuesday by 8:30AM I was taken to the labour ward. They again induced me pain thro drips. In 10 – 15 minutes my pains started. I was feeling damn uneasy but doctor said I had only dilated 2-3 cms and had a long way to go. My contractions came every 10 min and lasted for abt a minute. My contractions were increasing and I asked Dr for epidural. The specialist came after 30 min. I was literally waiting for him and kept asking the nurse a 100 times if he had arrived. Then I was given epidural and the pain was really so less after that. Its really worth to take epidural and it’s a boon according to me. I didn’t know much pain for half an hour and then I took one extra top up since I started feeling the pain. Then I got the urge to push. I was asked to push hard whenever I had contractions. I also did my level best and my hubby was holding my head for support. (it was indeed a very good support). After 10 minutes the Dr came she said will be having my baby in few minutes. I was then asked to give a hard push and I pushed with all efforts inspite of the pain and the baby was out. It was such a great relief then. They gave me the baby on my arms and I really felt wonderful. Then the placenta was removed and episiotomy stitches were done. I was kept under observation for half an hour and was sent back to my room.
I was so eager to come back to the room and see my mom, dad, Mother-in-law and others...Its a great feeling...worth all the pain and effort :)
